NI Protocol - Windsor Framework

The Scots must be wondering: "What makes them so bloody special
The threat of terrorism basically.
The IRA shot a high ranking Police officer a couple of days ago to show that they are still in business.
These sort of things tend to happen when governments give the impression they are open to blackmail.

If DUP refuse to return to Stormont, they can’t complain about anything in the future :ROFLMAO:
Under the terms of the BA/GFA, Stormont can't function without the support of both Unionist and Nationalist political blocks.
Any attempt to rewrite the BA/GFA for the benefit of Irish Nationalism and the EU could spell the end of devolution completely.

In his Today interview Rishi Sunak said that Northern Ireland was an “incredibly attractive” place to invest because it was within the UK, but also within the EU single market....and thereby lies the problem its not the EU that is the issue for the DUP its the republic and its influence on the single market within Ireland ...as in total dominance.

Whatever Dublin does in relation to the single market the North will have to follow to prevent economic suicide all without the benefit of EU subsidies to soften the blow. Take the Common Agricultural Payments...Southern farmers get them, the North is on transitional funding....and is tapering off to be replaced by ...err what ?

And if the Single market is such a good thing why the hell are we not in it ?

It's not a threat, because as you've pointed out it's a reality...

But brexiteers have told us that they couldn't care less about violence in NI !

In the same way as they couldn't care less about trashing the UK economy or limiting the life choices/chances of even their own family members!

I think you'll find the 'replacement funding' is worth virtually nothing...

0.4% of previous subsidies at the last count!

And if the Single market is such a good thing why the hell are we not in it ?
Maybe you ought to be asking brexiteers why they voted to commit economic/social suicide?

Well the ones still alive that is ;)

You mean Brexit could spell the end of devolution.

in reality Ireland is moving closer to unification.

NI is aligning itself to EU Single Market and away from UK

Unification is a given at some point...

As is Scottish independence....

The welsh of course are too wimpish to go the same way!

The irony is that Brexit supporters complain about the checks between GB and NI, yet they are silent on the same checks between GB and EU.

As the right wing populists lose power in Westminster, SNP will wane.

SNP under Sturgeon has struggled to grow independence polling above 48%

when Labour win that will fall.

Boris Johnson was a great political benefit to SNP, but we are slowly returning to adult politics.

I see no Scottish independence happening

It seems like a lifetime ago, but I'm pretty sure the EU made clear this was a special deal only for Northern Ireland, because of its sensitive situation. They get to be in the single market, whilst not having to follow other EU laws in some other areas, like the EEA members do. We were told that if the rest of the UK wanted to be in the single market, it would have to be more of a EEA type relationship. I think that is correct :)

No doubt the Brexit supporters will try and sell this as a “we got the EU to back down” win.

The reality is that Sunak somehow got the ERG and DUP to back down. Either with bribes or blackmail.
or perhaps they realise Rishi needs a win otherwise its a slam dunk for labour

And as you have all been taught by the more sensible majority of those that could be bothered to get off their arse and vote, 48% is a losing figure…

Very true.

if Rishi hadn’t done it, Starmer would’ve done and got the credit.

I wonder if your point is the reason the ERG have backed down.…some like Steve Baker are likely to lose their seats at next GE.
