No sound on youtube, other online videos etc.

Evening All

If you go and view any videos online on my fathers computer, e.g youtube,itv player etc there is never any sound on the videos.

I have tried turning up volume buttons, turning off mute etc but have no luck whatsoever.

It is a windows xp operating system. I have had it suggested it is probably a basic simple setting but don't want to risk messing the computer up either.

(Although I am generally OK with adjusting basic settings etc)

Could somebody please point me in the right direction?

Assuming you can play mp3s or other sound files successfully it sounds like Adobe Flash needs a reinstall although I'm not confident this is the cause as I think ITVPlayer uses MS Silverlight.

When you do the reinstall, ensure to untick any toolbars it offers to install. I upgraded Adobe Flash on my Windows 7 PC the other day and it offers to install McAfee Security Scan.
