Can anyone tell me if the BT wiring to a nte5 box is different when they connect a "normal" telephone incomer or an ADSL line

To extend the telephones from the filtered side of the splitter, can i run the filtered cable to a junction box then send seperate cables into each room ?

When you get broadband the wiring of your BT master socket does not change.

If you want to run extensions, then simply wire a normal telephone extension and put a microfilter on the extension socket(s) that you have a PC connected to.

the supplier side wiring odf the nte5 does nto change with ADSL

you can either have one filter runnign all your phones or you can have a filter at every point.

the adsl modem can be connected direct to the line or to the adsl side of a filter (which just connects directly to the line)

the filter availible for the NTE5 only make the unfiltered signal for your adsl modem availibel on the front with the terminals on the back carrying only the filtered signal however there is a special version availible with the unfiltered signal availible on the back at http://www.clarity.it/acatalog/ADSL_Installation.html

"put a microfilter on the extension socket(s) that you have a PC connected to"

You need a microfilter on every socket you have a PHONE plugged into (or Sky box, or analogue modem). The microfilter actually filters the phone, not the PC. If you just plug in a phone directly it strips off the high frequency ADSL signal.

thanks for the answers - even the obviously wrong one

anyone know any good sites for explaining Structured Wiring systems particularly for telecom , ADSL ( not wireless ) and TV distribution ( sky / sky+ )
