Old Rusty Metal External Staircase (circa 1880-1900)

Hi all,

I have an older property and currently renovating. It's on the first floor and accessed at the side via an old metal staircase which is covered in rust and old paint.

I have managed to get the upper side sanded with an angle grinder through the summer and painted, but I'm struggling to get the underside of the stairs done.

access is also a problem due to the height, normal ladders don't fit and larger ladders are too big!

If any of you have any ideas on how best to tackle this I'd gladly appreciate.

Scaffold tower?

Hire a scaffold.

I was thinking scaffold tower might be the best idea.

I was hoping there might be an easier / cheaper solution that you guys may have found before.

The thought of using an angle grinder off a ladder is frankly terrifying!
