Outdoor bench seat paint

I had an outdoor bench seat stripped. I applied 3 coats of teak oil. It looked grand. But since having gone through last summer and winter white patches appeared as can be seen from the photo.

Would appreciate advice on what to use for a lasting appearance.

Strip it's back to wood.
A good mechanical sanding.
Then paint
