I am wanting to fit 2 outside led security lights.
I have a socket that is on the ring main can I fit a fused spur into the socket and run 2 lights from the fused spur or do I need 2 fused Spurs one for each light
Or can I just fit a plug on each lamp cable and put a 3 amp fuse
Many thanks for your help and advice

Where are you? Outside the UK you don't have rings or FCUs.
Inside the UK any of your options are OK.

I'm not an electrician but since you've had no replies I'll offer some basic advice.

You can run two lights off one Fused Connection Unit (fused spur), probably fit a 3 amp fuse You could even have a double switch after the FCU so you can control the lights independently. Or you can fit a plug to each light and plug them both in, again, with lower amp fuses. No need for two FCU's.
I'm pretty sure there are rules about how many FCU's you're allowed on a ring main tho.
And bear in mind adding an FCU would possibly/probably be notifiable work in England, whereas plugging two lights into a socket wouldn't be. Unless there are some rules about outside lights needing some extra protection etc which I don't know of.
Hope this helps :)

I am trying to fit a led with a built in pir security light to my Daughter house today her drive is a slope and just cannot get the pir to pick the car up until she is halfway on her drive
I have just done mine and it works ok but I have a flat drive

That’s because most “all in one securitylights “ are garbage spend some money and buy a GJD lighting system , detector range of up to 30m

In Ireland you do have both and I've seen FCUs used in quite a number of countries that use UK-style accessories, e.g. Saudi Arabia and Malaysia (only radials in Malaysia though). I think Cyprus and Malta might use ring final circuits too.

Indeed, anywhere that uses BS1363 sockets would. Although Malaysia does not generally use rings in domestic premises they are used in commercial premises (so I was told by a local sparks).
