Hi all, looking for electrical advice.
Have a Bosch single built under oven (approx 6 yrs old) - has started to trip out the RCD on modern fuse board but can't find a pattern to it. Mainly happens when been on for a while with lots in (sunday roast etc.). Each time I have been present when happened there has been moisture/condensation on the top panel above door where the controls are. Tried new door seal but no difference.
Installed by kitchen fitter & all tested by electrician - oven has 13 amp plug connected to fused spur box with socket, on own RCD ring with the hob.
Been reading up & could be moisture getting into oven insulation as degrades over time ??
Also seen info about swapping the current fusebox MCB for RCBO which would effectively just affect that one, not all the single RCD protected rings?

Any ideas before I have to buy a new oven, or spend almost as much probably with electrician?
Thanks

I've asked a mod to move this to the Electrics forum as it is more appropriate there.

Does oven trip the mcb ,or just the rcd ? If there is a fault on the oven or the circuit ,swapping the rcd protection for rcbo will not address the basic problem of clearing the cause / fault. Sounds to me like the oven ,6 years old ,has already had money thrown at it to no avail ,i would have replaced the oven. You may ,of course ,have a problem with the circuit / installation and if after fitting a new oven problem is re occurring then engage a spark to sort that out. After 6 years use its unlikely to have lasted much longer anyway ,so wouldnt be a total waste .in my experience at home ,electric fan ovens last about 5 years. We are on our fourth !!

Thanks for reply - it just trips the RCD protecting that half of the board, and hence everything else on it goes too (including downstairs sockets with Broadband router on so very inconvenient), not the kitchen/cooker MCB.
Oven is plugged in via 13A plug into fused spur socket. Guess I can get a socket test & check socket - if thats OK then prob new oven required? Did speak to original kitchen fitter who said unlikely to be anything wrong on the board side.

Door seal split a while ago, so had already ordered £25 new seal - Bit annoying as Bosch was expensive when new - may replace with cheaper Beko as we did with washing machine & has been really good. Seen a large capacity one.

Socket tester is unlikely to be of use ,specialist equipment is required to test rcd , insulation resistance etc. And as your fault is intermittent its highly likely to be the oven ,particularly its insulation or the heating element. I wont buy expensive ovens ,200 quid or less !! They cook the chicken just as good !!!

Thanks - no point spending more on it - needs a new light fitting & element if thats the issue - don't fancy changing that myself really.
And half way to cost of new one then. Will get looking.

the usual cause is the protective sheath on the oven heating element breaking down and moisture getting inside it.

It's usually a plug-in replaceable part, but you usually have to remove the back panel of the oven to change it. Not a difficult DIY job if you are handy and careful.

Yes thanks. Have replaced parts on tumble dryer & dishwasher before so not bothered about taking things apart, but not main heating elements.
Also there are other issues with the oven, so may be best buying new.
Will check on new oven if it's 13amp or direct connect. If direct connect should be able to do that to existing fused cooker socket.
