Hi.

I have used a synthetic brush to paint the indoor facing completely flat side of my front door with ronseal Dark mahogany 10 year woodstain.
It did not look good after 1 coat. Brush marks were everywhere. I tried using a foam roller and failed to cover up the brush marks.
Should I use a brush again for the 3rd coat?

Do you mean that the colour obliteration is poor?

If yes, what colour was the door initially.?

Ah.
Ok @opps
Wood stain is a tricky one sometimes.
I think striping back to bare wood and following wood stain guide will give great results.
If you don't have the same product to apply or the surface is damaged and scratched, then something opaque to cover will have it looking good.
That's how I see it.
Op. Problem you had was with the application and the product and how it covered.
Wood stain are not paints. I've made plenty of mistakes with wood coating like stains and dyes. Can be a lottery with results.

There was a light grey shade of paint on the door.
This is how it looks now.
