Hi
I have a Panasonic NN-CT56JB Microwave\grill convection oven just out of 2 year warranty and the grill and convection oven functions no longer work but the microwave does works.

Thought as 2 functions have stopped wondered it might be a fuse or trip which is common to the functions. Tried to get John lewis to fix but because out of warranty they do not want to know.
Also Panasonic not interested just want to sell me another ? next time it will be Samsung clearly panasonic devices not built to last anymore - expect it to last more that 2 years ?

Any help much appreciated
Thanks,
Phil.

If it goes through the motions of working, apart from not getting hot - then it might simply be the element which has failed. In our (not Panasonic) one element serves both functions.

Be aware that unless you have a clue, microwave ovens are especially deadly inside.

Thanks for the info, just that grill does not glow and fan oven does not get hot and do they not have separate elements so coincidence that both have failed.

I have same micro, within the warranty thankfully... but I'm sure you can buy new elements for them... it's at the top of the machine, it looks like an element from an electric fire.

Personally I'd fix it, before buying a new micro.

Which reminds me - need to fix our m/wave too. The knob which you twirl to set the program and run time, is a bit dodgy I suspect a bit of bad soldering.

ok thanks get what you are saying element must be common to both.

mine are separate. On the roof is either a visible element, or an infra-red lamp; and behind the back wall is a fan and another element.

thanks, if i have 2 separate elements for grill and convection oven it is strange they both dont work ?

Very unlikely both would fail at the same time, unless there is a common reason. Really, the only way to know is to open it up, but if you do - Be aware there are very high deadly voltages in there.
