Patio Drainage

Hi,

I have this ancient patio and costs dictate I cannot replace to I’m re jointing it and cleaning it/tidying up.

This I believe is the 1939 original one and it appears to be laid directly on mud! There is a drainage issue. The blue circles are where water accumulates. The red square is where the manhole cover for the main drain is. The main drain is waste as well as water so not over keen on digging Channels into it, it would mean going through concrete too.

Any solution here? Digging a Chanel to the garnet would mean digging up concrete. I am wondering do I lift slabs by the pools, dig out the earth and chuck aggregate and sand in for a soak away?

I had a problem with pools of water on my concrete patio, so since I am not good at garden tasks, I simply laid brick sets with a small amount of sand between concrete and brick sets, and used slate chipping for small gap brick sets to house wall so sets would not move, clearly water still there, but not paddling in it any more, and it looks good.

I am sure you could lift and relay slabs, but to do it right it means some base under them and a wackier plate, etc. So I selected easy way out. Not perfect but near enough.
