Aside from anything else, 6x2 will look best as it will match the posts width
What do you intend for this pergola?
Just to look nice over the patio. No plants or anything growing over it.
Why bother, in that case?
A pergola is made for growing climbing plants, vines, fruit trees. All you'll have is a wood skeleton overhanging the garden.
I know it's a fashionable 'trend' for these things but they should have a purpose in mind.
