BiL's Peugeot 308 has a starting issue. More often than not on switching on the ignition he gets a full set of warning lights on and remaining on including the ones that normally go off after a period. Also the car does regularly flatten the battery for no reason.
Car had a new battery last year to solve the then problem with starting - at the time that battery was the age of the car - 10 years. Not sure if the Battery should be 'coded' to the car or not; int doesn't have start/stop feature.
I have found out today that he charged the battery several times with the battery still connected to the car. I discovered that as I asked him to disconnect the battery for a couple of days before I go and look at it. Apparently one of the battery posts cannot be undone...
Unfortunately he hasn't been doing much mileage recently and less 'cause of the starting issue.
He now does not trust the car to start if he goes out in it.
Any thoughts on what I should investigate, please.
