hi i am trying to recover my nefews photos and program files. acer travelmate 2350 due to system freeze computer got restarted and everything had gone. HELP!!

as far as i know myself someone was trying to use hes laptop and was guessing the password. and when he put the right password in the full thing froze. and i think they held the power button till full lot shut down and when started back up ever thing had gone? any ideas that mite help?
