H, we had some work done a couple of years ago to install a washbasin in the attic, and now want to install a bath. We didn't get building regs approval for the washbasin (its now outside enforcement period), but want to for the bath. Does anyone know if the original installation was compliant or not (given the external pipework), and if not, if that will mean we can't get approval for installing a bath using the same supply, please?

Hi B
I'm just doing a similar legalwise job, where sewars (done a year ago) needed a separate building regs application, to the lintel I was adding in.
The BC accepted the sewars to be within the same application as the lintel, so only one application.

I think it depends on your BC officer, 'jobs worth' or reasonable.

Thanks for that. I'm really torn about it - my worry is that the outside pipes would not have been accepted if we had applied then. If that is true, then they might refuse the bath, on the basis that it draws from a non-compliant supply arrangement, even if they can't actually enforce against the older job.
