Hello All.

1950's house - when we moved in a few years ago, it had poor heating and poor ventilation. Condensation and black mould was the result, unsurprisingly.

Heating has been greatly improved by way of new rads and a log burner. But the ventilation is still really bad.

Thinking that Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) could be the solution, a Nuaire Drimaster, or equivalent.

However, our eave soffits are almost certainty made of asbestos. I haven't verified this, but 99% sure, it certainly looks like it from a few offcuts I have seen lying around.

My question is whether this rules out PIV? Would the fan just be blowing asbestos dust from the loft into the house? Or are those kind of boards 'solid' enough and unlikely to be giving off dust? They have not been disturbed as far as I can tell. I know that PIV is quite a gentle fan, so perhaps would not kick up dust in any case?

I appreciate the only way to know for sure is to get an expert in, but wondering if anyone has come across this before.

Many thanks
