Plastering over existing plaster

Hey people, I have a room where the plaster board walls have been dib dabbed and the plasterboard ceiling has been screwed up. All joints have been taped and then plastered but after a few years cracks are appearing again. I would like to tape and skim over again but I don’t know what product to use and can I just sort out the cracks etc. There are other parts of the ceiling where the touch up are not great so just would like the best product to sort this out once and for all.

Do you mean dot and dab? First of all you need to find out why it’s cracking ie movement in the boards or just a rubbish tape job. Once that is done I’d scrim tape it , pva and the just skim it with multi
