I love the realism of City skylines, but I don't want to manage, have finance utilities, medieval villages, monsters or stuff, I just want to build a model village/town like I had as a kid,but on my laptop.

Is there such a game please?

Happy New Year to all.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I've had a look, but really want something realistic (like city skylines)
Kind of you though, thanks

Yes, RandomGrinch, I'm going to give this a try. I really love the city skylines realism, just can't be bothered with managment.

I've looked at MInecraft, Freddie, just not realistic.

Happy New Year to both of you.

Sorry, I should have added, are any of these sugestions, towns that I can build without having to find funding, and police and utilities and stuff. I just want to build a model village (English style) and look at it!

I am very grateful for your advice everybody. Kepp well

Ditto Minecraft.
If you plan it right and accept that its all based around what you can do with blocks, slabs and stairs and get creative (and you can) then you can layout entire cities.

There are maps available that are most major cities around the world as well as medieval worlds.

A simple example:

You can spend hours playing it, if you play in single player creative passive mode there will be no mobs/monsters yet you can add the harmless ones like cats/dogs/dolphins and best of all villagers who have different trades.

It all depends how much time you want to commit to it.

Watch Youtube, especially the likes of Grian for ideas.

However if you want to be able to simply place ready made buildings then go SimCity etc.

This thread has been going around in the back of my head!
I was thinking of what alternatives there might be.

Through work, I play with plans in AutoCAD and design objects to be manufactured in Inventor.
Although not a game, I wondered if anyone would go down the CAD route as a hobby, to design cityscapes?
It would be hard work, but the results would be photorealistic! :)

...then I rediscovered Blender.
It's open source, and with a few add-on's, some beautiful results can be created:

I will have a play when I get a chance!
