You know when people talk about adverts, someone will say 'well they evidently work, otherwise companies wouldn't use them.' And there's a valid debate to be had there re subliminal effects of advertising and so on.

I've just seen clips of Rishi trying his hand at bricklaying, Ed Davey paddle boarding, not sure what Keir's been up to.

A bit like advertising, do you think their (political party bods) analysis shows this sort of thing has a positive effect on their campaign? I get they need to be out and about i.e. be seen, talking to people, interacting etc, however I personally find some of the stuff they do completely and utterly irrelevant.

not sure what Keir's been up to
they are trying to make him more relatable so he has been talking about his parents etc

I expect we will see more of that

he likes to keep his wife and children out of it, but his wife would probably be a big asset to him

Sir Kier has been blaming poor diet and oral hygiene of children on the Tories. Apparently lots of kids are having to go to hospital to have rotten teeth extracted due to a high sugar diet and poor oral hygiene. According to Sir Kier, its not the parents fault for feeding them the stuff and not making them brush their teeth, its Sunaks.

Is this the kind of Nanny state we will get under Labour...

Maybe parents can't get to see a Dentist.

You advocate for personal responsbility now but happily supported Bojo lies and deceipt.

Shut up.

What a terrible thing for anyone to say.

Did he really say that?

Is Moto referring to this?

“More children are becoming unhealthy, with two in every five leaving primary school overweight. But most damning of all, the number one reason for young children being admitted to hospital is to extract rotten teeth – because it is so difficult to get NHS dental treatment before tooth decay sets in.

“And incredibly, after 14 years of the Tories, the rise in life expectancy has stalled.”

The height of the average British five-year-old girl has fallen by 27 places in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) rankings over the past three decades, and boys by 33 places, while the UK is estimated to have more obese children than France, Germany, Poland and Slovenia. Added to this, about 250,000 British children are now on mental-health waiting lists.

You are aware that brushing properly twice a day and avoiding a high sugar/carb/starch diet is the best way to avoid poor oral hygiene?

Surely you went to school and learned this?

I had access to a dentist too, for regular check ups.

Surely you also had such access?

If the parents got their children to brush their teeth properly and thoroughly twice per day AND regulated the amount of sugar they consume, their teeth would be ok.

I doubt that taking kids to the dentist would have made much difference TBH

Someone in the LibDem campaign office should stop putting Ed Davey on a windsurf board, on a bike or in front of a big clock. All i can think of when i see him is "what a stunt".

Its not nannying to improve diet as it reduces cost and intervention later on. Its called public health investment in which Cameronn decimated. To do nothing because its the parents responsibility (ie “choice”) is classic free market economics. Should we ban gammons* from health care on the grounds of their liquid diet?

* This word might trigger sensitive toreys

we are all doomed if we think it’s the government’s tax payers responsibility to fix everything that is wrong with our life.

I know - let's privatise everything and let corporations sort out the mess in our rivers...oh, wait!
