Is this a Genius or Simply Dumb way of heating a paddling pool up?

Well the 1.2Kw heater raised 1500L of water from 21c to 23c in 1 hour.

Hoped it may heat the water up in the same way the sun heats the earth up. (Inferred to Conduction)

Really? All of it?
Too late to do the sums. What rise would two kettles (3.6L) of boiling water make?

It would, but if may fall in and stop doing it.

Or, even better......

I admit, it was a fail. :( Came on a timer at 6AM this morning and only got up to 18-19°C.

That temperature rise would require approx 12000kJ of energy (specific heat capacity of water is approx 4kJ per kilo), your 1.2kW heater provides 1.2kJ per second, so would take 10000 seconds = 2.77 hours, assuming no losses in the energy transfer and no loss of energy from the heated water....hopefully no mistakes in that little calc.

Essentially, its a rubbish way of heating a pool :)
