poor punto

I have a fiat punto x reg 1.2 and it gurgles when I start up

it has no smoke out back
it has no mayonase in the oil tank
the thermostat in the radiator kicks in fine
the car heaters fans are all fine ant toasty
the car is not over heating

I know gurgling points to head gasket but it's not showing the above signs??



an ideas also whenever I got a new exhaust fitted this horrible squeaking sound like one of those pram toys that you shake and makes a giggle noise. people have keep


Never buy one they just gurgle and squeak!!

I knew someone with a Punto, when it needed a new air filter he decided to go with an uprated aftermarket jobby (K&N panel filter) as it was no more expensive and promised a couple of extra bhp.

He reckoned that made the engine sound very different.

Gurgling is more likely to be air in the cooling system. If you're not seeing white smoke, no mayonnaise in the oil cap, and power/fuel consumption seem to be OK, you're probably OK.

Try starting it from cold without the coolant cap on, and squeeze all the coolant pipes a couple of times you can see in the engine bay, staring with the lowest first, then replace the cap.

Does your squeaking noise rise and fall with the engine revs? If so, it's probably an alternator belt. If it squeaks going over bumps, it's probably your new exhaust rubbing.
