I've been using these forums to guide me through construction of a summerhouse, though this is my first post (only learning so please don't bite
)
So far I have constructed the base as a raised timber frame with an 18mm OSB floor. Shortly I will begin constructing the stud walls and will externally sheath with 11mm OSB. Can anyone advise as to whether it would be best to build the framing so that there is a gap around the base that the OSB can 'rest' on, and thus the weight of the OSB sheathing is supported by the base and not the stud walls, or would it be better to build the frame flush with the edge of the base so that the weight of the OSB hangs off the studwork? I can see pros and cons of both but not sure of the convention.
Also, should I leave an expansion gap between sheets of OSB and fill with some low modulus silicone? This was my approach on the base.
