Pray to stay

If you convert once you arrive you probably aren’t going to be able to make your case. If you came here via small boat illegally, you could become a transgender, homosexual, vicar and still not have an eligible claim.

Listening once more to Ian Collins, he sticks to a cynical script determined by the political bias of the news channel where a far right agenda holds firm on the issue of migration: it's all bad so anyone converting to Christianity must be "swinging the lead". If this loophole exists within the law as it stands then i don't see how it can be closed that easily - how would you determine the truth behind any claim?
During the Crusades a priest would tell Christian knights to convert to Islam if captured to save their life - you can always convert back if you get the chance and God will forgive you. (just drop a small donation at the door before you leave.) Jews would convert to Christianity during the many pogroms they faced during their exodus from the Holy Land but in their hearts remained faithful to the Torah. Some of thm come to understand it's all one and broaden their understanding.
The priest is right to maintain that anyone asking to convert to the Christian faith must be given a fair hearing and allowed to understand the culture through religious teachings: isn't that one of the ways they can integrate within our society? A common complaint among opponents of migrants is they do not take part in British culture and converting to Christianity is one of the ways they can do it.

Evangelicals of all denominations believe it is their duty to convert and spread the word.

They will be driven by the word of god in their ear and they are easily turned in to useful idiots.

I don’t ever like the term loop hole because it’s like tax. One man’s loop hole is another’s legitimate justification.

But to use the term. The loop hole is definitely closed for any new illegal arrival.

I know, right.
Nobody's used a single slur or gone round in circles to avoid the subject or even gone off topic.
****ing boring, right?

I'm sure you can do better.
Touched a nerve ?

Maybe you and JohnD can move in together and have glorious breakfast debates.

Evangelism isn't so much a big deal in this country as it is in the United States and i'm pretty sure the Anglican Church isn't about to ask the congregation to "put their hand on the screen" for salvation. Conversion should be a personal choice and a private matter but migrants will be subjected to harsh scrutiny because their circumstances are open to accusations of manipulation: so what?
The Anglican Church could use a few more faces to fill the ranks left open by an aging congregation and the new generation unwilling to pay heed to the tradition.

It’s probably bigger than you think. As a teen I went to a camp where more than 5,000 people attended for a week. It’s very easy to get sucked in …. I got better though.

Yeah, it probably is. I left the Church and took a rambling path to see what other cultures had to say about 'Life, the Universe and Everything'.
All roads lead to Golgotha, in the end.
