Hi,
I have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 35CDi combi boiler running on LPG. This works very well providing both hot water and central heating.
I have recently installed a PV solar/battery system and expect to have more electrical power than I need for about 8 months of the year. I am looking at ways of making use of this excess.
One option I am exploring is to fit a large pressurised hot water cylinder with immersion heater “upstream” of the combi boiler and use it to pre-heat the water in the summer months when I have spare power. I am hoping that this would result in the combi not kicking in at all when fed with hot water in the summer and working as normal in winter when the immersion heater was switched off.
I would appreciate your thoughts on whether this would work, problems to look out for or generally better options to achieve the same end!
Thanks in advance
