Proposed new boiler

Someone might tell me different, but I suppose in some ways, a wind turbine has near-infinite efficiency (if calculated in certain ways).

In that, it takes basically no power to "run" it but, on a windy day, it generates kilowatts of power............
Energy is never lost or gained, only converted to one form or another. Too many turbines and the earth stops spinning lol

Tax of £300 (?) on new gas boilers is likely to kick in next year the manus will have to pass it on by hiking up the boiler cost
??

Some thing like that any way ??
Plumbers will have to cut their prices by £300 to compensate

Sorry for dragging up an old post, but it looks like this tax has been scrapped, or delayed. Talk of refunds for anyone who has already paid it.

I paid the higher price

ask your installer nicely for some of the 150 quid he will be getting back
He did quite a few things extra that he didn’t charge me for so if he gets some money back, good for him.

I’m just annoyed with the govt for an ill thought out policy - I’m not making a political point, I could see Labour doing a similar thing. Why do governments never talk to the industry?

Why do governments never talk to the industry?

They do. But only for show.

A civil servant one told me (I was part of an industry body, working on an issue at the time) that "we have a duty to consult: we have no duty to take any notice".

Why do governments never talk to the industry?
Governments and local councils 'talk' to whoever (industry, the public, local residents) only as much as they absolutely need to to get their scheme approved and off the ground.

Big surprise, the target number of heat pumps installed has fallen way short ... who'd have thought that would happen ;)
