I'm confused. What are you looking at that I'm not seeing ?The rubber bit is a cushion so the timing belt cover doesn’t vibrate..............
I think!
John
A rubber plug, inserted onto the casting....I can’t really see any genuine use for it, but the Subaru boxer engine has a few of these if I remember. The belt cover used to buzz like hell on these.I'm confused. What are you looking at that I'm not seeing ?
I don’t really get this one......all water pumps that I can recall have been toothed.
It’s only tensioners that run on the back of the belt, but what do I know?
John
That's a new one on me.....I haven't had the pleasure so far!I think there's a move away from toothed water pump pulleys so that if the pump seizes, (either due to mechanical failure or insufficient antifreeze on a cold morning), it doesn't take your valvetrain with it!
Some Vauxhalls did. I only remember that as I was having a sort out of my tool boxes the other day and found a special spanner that I used to adjust them with. This type:I cant remember but some cars used the water pump for the tension of the timing belt(been some time now) lol
