Hi, I was given a Pyrography set for Xmas by my wife to help me with my Love Spoons that I create, my question is "How and What can I use to enable me to hold the utensil closer to the base of the stem like holding a biro or pencil, I have made a dowel with a hole down the middle which I slid over the top of the stem, but being made from wood the heat has burnt the dowel, now I'm struggling to think of another way

All help would be greatly appreciated (n)(n)

This is the type of set I have

Have a look for a high temperature silicone tube that will go over the end? Or perhaps some heat resistant gloves...

Should not need to hold tip , use mine and very easy to control from top .

Thanks for your replies, the spray sounds the best idea so far.
As for holding the tip - I need to do that for all the delicate work that I do, I dont find it easy to control from the top, but thanks anyway.
