Been recommended this system and I've read all the literature. Can anyone explain why I need to link it to my router please? I thought that the Enforcer just communicated with the various sensors like my old Yale one did, so does it use my wifi to communicate with them? I think that I understand most of the rest of the blurb. Will it work without the app and wifi?

Wi-Fi to let the panel speak to the cloud which the app also speaks via

If you aren’t using the app you don’t need to connect to Wi-Fi although I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want to use that feature - especially in the first 12 months

I will get the app as it's free for 12 months. What happens if I change my router? Will the installer have to reconnect me? I'm thinking of getting BT FTTP so it'll mean new SSID and password.

Assume by your last post you aren’t doing a DIY install?

Either way you can update the Wi-Fi settings using the master manager code

Definitely a professional install! Do the pet-friendly sensors really work? I believe that parts of the system can be individually disabled so if the cat triggers them I can do that, I expect? I like the idea of being able to control the system via the app too (just been reading a bit more about it). The system will be Enforcer V11. Thanks for all the advice.

Not too keen on the pet filter fitted to these detectors , don’t seem very sensitive with it in …..I would look at keeping the cat in one area eg kitchen and fit contact shock if there’s a door / window….

Pet sensors aren’t great

You won’t be able to change what sensors are included in particular zones. Only your installer can.

Your installer may set your panel that you can omit a sensor when arming but this would need done each time you set it.

Thanks. That's really helpful. The app guide says that each sensor can be individually turned off if there's an issue. I'm tempted to fit one downstairs and one up to see how they perform as cat is very small. I do like the thought that, even if somebody got in, there's another layer of security. Silly question but if I'm in Spain and my neighbour texts me to say the cat is tripping the sensor can I disable it from there?

You can only turn a sensor off individually if your installer sets it that way, and you would need to turn the sensor off , known as omitting it , each time you set the alarm.

You can omit from the app if the sensor is set to omitable

From anywhere in the world (if my phone is connected to WiFi of course)? Don't really want my catsitter to have any hassle.

If I have the app, what is to stop a thief who gets hold of my phone from disabling my system? If he knows my login details can he download the app and get control? There's lot of info. on the site about the app but I can't see much about how secure it is.

If you turn off the auto login on the app he would need both your alarm code and also an alpha numerical code that you setup from the alarm panel itself. In addition to that he would need any unlock code needed for your actual phone and if he were to download the app himself he would need all of the above plus your alarms system ID.

It’s pretty secure…

I've just been watching the Pyronix video about connecting to home Wifi. There is no option to use WPS, which I've used several times to connect to other devices. Is this not an option? I wonder if the two devices would be too far apart for WPS anyway - is there a distance limit? The bloke also uses a web interface to connect his iPhone to the wifi and this mysteriously installs the SSID and password onto the console - I don't have an iPhone!

V11 supports wps… you don’t need an iPhone, you’ve literally just watched a promo video that is trying to get the point across that it’s a smartphone required - which I assume you have since your talking about the app… You can also manually type in the SSID and network password into the panel directly.
