Hi, I had a back boiler disconnected and new combi fitted.
At the time the house was tenanted and the plumber advised it was best to leave the old fire cover and boiler in place as it would make a lot of mess to remove it.

I'm wondering if I can remove the fire and buy a radiator cover to go where it was, or do some kind of shelf unit?

Any ideas please?

If you don't want the fire either then just get the whole lot taken out rather than trying to cover it up. Then you can either brick up the fireplace or turn it into a feature

If still a rental the old boiler should still be checked if it’s still in place ,and recorded as a non operational appliance.
