Hi All

Many thanks for reading and any advice in advance.

I have an existing kitchen diner that has engineered wood flooring. Im looking to replace old parque flooring in my hallway and match it as close as possible to the kitchen diner floor.

The hallway is a concrete floor and unfortunately there is around 20mm difference in height with the kitchen diner.

What’s the best way to make up the difference in height?

Self levelling compound or could you use XPS underlay or maybe screw down a ply or chipboard sub base or a battening system? I read of potential issues of the concrete sweating with the last option but could this be overcome with DPM paint?

I intend that the engineered wood floor to be floating.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards
