Decided to up the RAM in my comp, which was 256Mb ( 2 sticks at 128Mb each)Dimms.

When running the Crucial memory scan utility, it reported that I had 128Mb and two slots free, when went into the control panel,/sys info it reported I had 256Mb of memory.

I have now added one stick of 256Mb and crucial now reports I have 374Mb and one free slot and the control panel indicates I have 512Mb now.

I have no free slots now so what do I believe, the crucial utility or windows? Is it possible I have a dud stick of memory that windows is not reconizing as dud or is crucial wrong.?

The PC is certainly a lot quicker with the added 256Mb installed today. :P

Once again thanks in advance.

Try Belarc to see a overall system report.

Also there are plenty of free memory diagnostic tools out there.

Right Click my computer goto Properies - Select Advanced Tab - Select Perfomance Options and look at you paging file should approx 1.5 times your RAM size.

Hope this helps

If Windows is reporting the full amount, it is probably ok. Some utilities don't always interpret the bus correctly as the configuration can vary from one motherboard to another. What does the BIOS report during the POST?
