Hi all,

I’m putting together a cupboard/bookcase in an alcove next to a stud wall chimney breast that has a wood burning stove in. The left side of the stud wall is 24inches wide, then a 9inch gap to the stove.

The left hand side of the unit would be a cupboard, and the right a book case. My thought was to drill and secure the bookcase shelving directly to the stud wall, but I’ve concerns about using metal or plastic rawl plugs due to the heat. I considered gorilla glue or evostick, but thought it’d probably melt.

Can someone either put my mind at ease or offer any other solutions? Would I be better building a shelving unit separately and slotting it in and securing it to the cupboard side instead?

Thanks in advance!

I didn’t think so, but I didn’t want to put plastic rawl plugs in only to find out later that I should’ve done something different! Thanks
