Hi

I need to remove and replace an existing soldered joint on copper pipe.

I just wondered is there a special technique for doing this job? Once the old joint is removed, do you need to remove all traces of the old solder from the end of the pipe before resoldering in the usual way?

Thanks for your advice

Robin

Not really, just heat the end till it shines then clean any solder off with a wet rag, so the new fitting will fit. It's actually better to leave it silvered (tinning) as the next soldering will take to it better.
