I have been asked to replace some really old PIR in a commercial warehouse.

Existing are not even DT but I will replace with DT unless someone suggests otherwise.

Nothing special required but what brand/models are people currently using as their go to favourite in 2024?

Very old (10 years+) Premier 24 system and with Redcare ending next year a panel upgrade (Premier Elite 24) is required for SmartCom and self monitoring and maintenance.

All the current PIR are from the system before the current one and not even EOL so they are due a change.

They are currently working but two of them are showing signs of water ingress from a sporadic leak so I was going to replace them and move them slightly so they remain dry.

Off topic but am I right in thinking the Premier LCDLP keypads and PSU/expander from the Premier will work with the new elite panel?

They are a bit of a mix and match at present - some replaced along the way but there are Pyronix, Texecom and also unknown ones on the system.

I'll come back with some pictures of them tomorrow...

Images of the various sensors currently in situ - they are in an unheated warehouse and work OK but are old and throw an occasional false (probably not false but possibly trapped birds) and some have signs of water ingress.

Area covered is a long (40m) wide (10m) warehouse, placed every 10m down one side looking across and offices.

Want to update to new, DT in the warehouse and QD in offices and enable EOL.

What brands/models would you go for?

I would go for the pyronix same as the bottom unit in shape , standard case for all
Versions ….
I normally would use optex but they seem to have gone down the same stupid route as Texecom with the plastic cam instead of a screw to release the detector front …. Not a fan of this design

Thanks for the advice.

I assume apart from the physical design, from a technology perspective, there is currently not much to choose between Pyronix, Texecom and Optex and they are all good?

Optex was my ….go to detector ( not all ) ….started with the fx 35 in the late eighties…..then the rx40 …still. Just about available…..MX40 dt ….still just available…..no issues with these at all …other optex ….eg dx 40 /60 fantastic until they added the antimask technology…..then optimals….same again ….then CDX ….updated optimals ….a bit hit and miss …

Pyronix…..equinox E , then equinox 10 and 15 …..rock solid DTs

Texecom prestige range was ok … but had more failures
Problem is everyone has there own favourite devices depending on what reliable they have had !
