....need to put an extracter fan in my downstairs toilet (apparently), but to install it I will need to run a pipe through every joist (6 of them) to reach the wall. Is it possible to :
a) Get a recycling fan like I have in my kitchen.
b) run the vent tube along the beam which would mean it would vent into my garage.

Regards

Ben

Drilling a 105mm hole in a joist would weaken it too much.

Do you mean your toilet has no outside walls, and there is an occupied room above it, with no room for a vertical duct in the corner of the room?

You may do better to get some rectangular-section ducting and run it as unobtrusively as you can where the ceiling meets the wall.

Low-wattage light bulbs will make it less noticable

A recycling fan will be completely useless.

There is a room above, the toilet is in the middle of the house, if we run it along the beam the wall opens into the garage....the only option is to take up all the floor above and then cut every beam to get the outside wall....

Cutting every beam is not an option.

Haven't you got a duct in the corner for the soil pipe?

If you can duct it through the garage to an outside wall, no-one will seriously object to the duct spoiling the decor.
