Refitting a roller blind: solved with a bit of card.

This blind was always rather reluctant to roll up. It fell down while I was cleaning. Now I am struggling to make it roll up after refitting it and I was thinking I might have mislaid one of the fittings. Pic 1 shows the empty ends of the blind. Pic 2 shows the RH end on the wall for the mechanism to latch on to. Pic 3 shows the other end. Pic 4 shows the parts to fit into the ends of the blind. The plastic piece attached to the chain seems very loose in the blind end. Should there be something else to keep it tightly fastened?

It looks to me, as if someone has replaced a broken cord pulley with a generic replacement, without measuring first.

Internal diameter is about 2.9cm (1.1"). The mechanism in that Amazon listing looks identical to mine. It had been working kind of okay, though it was clearly a bit loose. Perhaps I can push some folded paper or something like that inside the end of the tube around the fitting?

i had to do that on one of the old pull type blinds we had - now all the sprung kind

is it turning within the blind or a tight fit

You could have a try, or look for something that's the right size

is it turning within the blind or a tight fit

It is too loose within the tube, so I'll have a go at pushing something around the plastic bit that fits into the tube, see if that will make it turn properly.

Hmmm, I don't want to spend when I should be able to fix this with a bit of cloth or paper. I'll give it a go. I had thought I'd lost a part, but it seems it was always the wrong size.

Success! I pushed a bit of card into the tube with the plastic fitting with the chain and it's much tighter. Blind rolls down and up. Simple! And not a penny spent.
