Hi all

I got some carbon steel shield anchor bolts from b&q to install a pull up bar on an external wall.
https://www.diy.com/departments/diall-carbon-steel-shield-anchor-l-105mm-pack-of-4/1517972_BQ.prd

Got a friend round to install it. Holes drilled, anchor bolts all hammered in, started screwing in the bolts and realised they were in the wrong way.

Has anyone had experience removing these? My friend thinks he can drill into it and pull it out but i'm not so sure given how tight they were when getting hammered in.

Help/advice will be appeciated.

How can they be in the wrong way?
Did he bang the bolt heads in the (oversized) hole????

Surely you'd have to have the bolt partially installed so the tapered cone wouldn't fall out?.

You've got a cat in hells chance of drilling that out and having a usable hole at the end of it.

Try unscrewing the bolt a few turns, then hit the head in. That should remove the sideways force which the cone exerts and enable the bolt assembly to be withdrawn using a bit of leverage under the bolt head.

From what i understood he banged the bolt in, head first, so the cone is now sticking out.
Hopefully I misunderstood...
Pictures please.

Still puzled as to what the OP has done - I'm wondering if they have knocked the sleeves in without the bolt, I can't think how else you could do it wrong - they can't have knocked it in the wrong way around!

They are shield anchors so I would have expected them to be tapped in without the bolt. Just looks like they have been tapped in the wrong way around.
