Removing UPVC window handle with no visible screws!

Hi Everyone. I just need some help with removing a upvc window handle which I can't find any screws for at all. There are no removable plates from what I can see and the only thing I can see is a metal bit which is visible when the handle is turned up...any ideas?

Are you sure its a pvc window? It looks like an Ali profile.

It looks like these may be fixed from the other side so you would need to deglaze the window.
 
Ah I thought it was a UPVC. May well be ali profile although I don't know what ali profile is. I'll probably have to get a specialist in by the looks of things...
 
Ali profile = Aluminum window.
It should be diy-able but not a straight forward unscrew and replace.
If your not confident handling glass, Possibly up a ladder if its upstairs then yes it would be best to get someone in.
 
Hi, I have the same handles and the same problem. I need to remove these, but I don't know how. I had someone in a few years ago, but I wasn't around, they only spent 5 minutes sorting it out and didn't remove the glass. There is definitely a trade secret here. Anyone any clue how these handles come off (They are alu profile BTW)? Thanks.
 
Hi, the picture is the same as the first post. But I have sorted it now that I have spoken to the right person. The trick is that the black insert in the lock actually pulls out with a pair of pliers revealing a hidden Allen screw. Once in, it's quite easy to dismantle the handle and screw it back in. Hope this helps someone in the same position.
 
I have the same problem, but I need to remove the backplate that the handle fixes to. I have managed to remove the handle following the advice above, but I cant get off the rest of the fixing. Can anyone give any help please?
 
Apologies for bumping this old thread, but it's actually one of the only results that comes up when googling for these old Monalock monarch handles so it's a fairly useful resource.

Did Jonathan or anyone manage to remove the back-plate for the handle? This has become loose on one of my windows, it looks like it's screwed on so I was looking to see if I could just tighten them up - but I cant get to the screws to see. They're either under the white back plate (which I tried prising off but backed off before I caused any damage) or from the gearing side. Taking the faceplate off exposes the gearing, but I can't figure out how to remove this either.
 
I also seem to have handles where you cant get to the screws. I can just nudge the white back plate out of the way to see the screws but I cant get to them. Someone posted that you can remove the black lock button but there are no videos showing how to do this. (I dont want to break it ). All the online videos say how easy it is to replace the handle. Just unscrew the screws !!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That one's not the same as the Monalock handles at the start of this thread, but maybe the handle is attached in the same way. If it is, you can just get a thin flat headed screwdriver down the side of the black button and prise it out.

Press the silver bits in that poke out through that plate, they're spring loaded so just push them in while turning the backplate through 90 degrees and hey presto
 
Yay thanks crank39 This worked !!! Now to find correct handles. Thanks for responses guys.
 
So the answer on how to get the Monalock backplates off is just to prise it off at both ends with something you can get behind the plate. Underneath there are 4 screws you can tighten.
