render top coat

hi,ive put scratch coat on.
The remaining top coat is around 5-10mm.
Im having trouble finding the right sand,was told sharp sand but seems to have too much big stone in it.
Can i use building sand for top coat?
any help appreceiated

sharp sand NO. building sand NO.

rendering or plastering sand is what you need.

plus some hydrated lime.

and a splash of waterproofer.

and plasticiser.
