I was planning to apply insulating render (the Bauwer Light system) to an internal wall. However, on removing the previous plaster, the brickwork is in bad shape.
There are a few patches where the mortar is pretty much gone from the internal layer of bricks (it's a solid Victorian brick wall). I think it's largely from when the wall settled slightly after a beam was put in on the ground floor. There's no ongoing movement 12 years later so I'm not too worried structurally. But I would like to repoint the brickwork before applying the render.
My question is: how soon after patch repointing can I render the wall? The render will be breathable if that makes a difference.
