Hello,

DIY-Novice here hoping to get advice on how to repair some walls I’ve stripped of lino-paper and wallpaper

My intention was to strip paper, sugar soap it, sand it and then prime, before filling in crack/gaps. However I am now confused by what I’ve found underneath.

In Room 1 it seems half the wall has old brown plaster, some of which is starting to fall off (photos attached), and the other half doesn’t, and looks much more damaged.

In Room 2 it seems one wall is brown, and the other grey.

My first question is what people recommend I do in both rooms to achieve the best finish? Does Room 1 look like something I can fix by removing all the brown plaster and doing the list I mentioned before, or does anything look like it will need replastering?

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks

Been skimmed over that green paint and coming away. See if it will all come off and skim.

Other gray plaster was around back in the 80s. Remember seeing it on a job. Just the type of mine it was dug up from I guess. Bit like plasterboard can be pink or gray gypsum. I've never used it or know anything other than it was around. Doubt its lime plaster given the age or need
