Replacing Danfoss RX1 with Hive 2 receiver

Hi

I would like to change my programmer (Danfoss TP5000si-RF / RX1) controlling my Feroli Modena 102 combi boiler to Hive 2. It seemed pretty straightforward to begin with but although the Hive receiver is working fine sending the on/off signal etc the boiler isn't firing up.

I have checked the forum but can't find the answer, I have also checked the Danfoss site to confirm the existing wiring configuration and it looks like it's not quite as expected (they show the CH-OFF in number 4 and my current setup has no wire there - and currently CH-ON is in number 2 which should be COM according to the RX1 wiring diagram.

I'm a bit baffled how my current setup is working correctly like this, or maybe it's something peculiar to the Modena 102?

Any advice on how to configure for Hive 2 receiver would be gratefully received.

NB. Do not take the CH-ON & CH-OFF labelling as "gospel" as I put these on thinking the existing wiring was as expected.

Assuming you have the single channel version of the receiver, there shouldn't be any wire connected to heating off (2) which should not be used. Fortunately It won't have done any damage, but your heating will not come on.

Terminal 4 on the RX1 originally does the same thing. There wasn't a wire going to that was there?

The Hive switching contacts you need are 'Com' (1) and 'Heating on' (3).

RX terminal 2 Com = Hive Com (1)
RX terminal 3 Heating on = Hive Heating On (3)

In reality it doesn't matter which way around the wires to 'com' and 'on' are connected they are only a switch.

Assume Live & Neutral are correct

No, the photos are as I found it (currently working ok) as wired for the RX1 (ie nothing in terminal 4)

So for Hive 2 do I need to loop the live to common?

What do I do (no rude suggestions) with the CH-OFF wire?

If by some chance I have the CH-OFF and CH-ON cables labelled the wrong way round would it cause any harm, or just have either the boiler on all the time or off when I want it on?

No need for any loop if there wasn't one there before. Boilers are often wired differently, but if you carry out a like for like swap, function to function all will be fine.

So:

L & N are self evident
The wire that was in the LX1 'Com' (2) terminal should go to the Hive 'Com' (1)
The wire that was in the LX1 'Heating on' (3) should go to the Hive 'Heating on' (3)

There shouldn't be a CH off wire. If there was it would have been in LX1 terminal 4.
