I want to replace some leaking lockshield valves. The pipe comes out the wall horizontally, which is a pain since a normal lockshield will end up sticking out into the room.

The best option I can find is Danfoss RLV-D or RLV-S because there's no handle to stick out.

Problem is, I don't know the difference between the RLV-D or RLV-S. Can anyone tell me which would be the best choice here? Or suggest any other replacement lockshield valve?

(The valve in the photo has no internal adjustable part that can be tightened to stop the leak - I checked.)

Hi,

I have those lockshields, they came with the RAS-D² TRV's and they are very neat.
However, a cheaper alternative may be to use towel rad valves?

That is a normal lockshield, it's just mounted backwards (so the end normally on the rad is on the pipe thru the wall). There will be innards in that valve (if you remove the plastic cover there'll be a big hex head which will reveal all) but at £5 a go probably more cost effective to replace. With any standard lockshield with 2 x 15mm compression unions.
