I have a faulty photocell on my boiler, my plumber friend told me to clean it when the boiler struggles to fire. It has gotten to the point today now where that no longer works. The lens has been diming for some time now, cleaning it no longer gets the boiler firing again.
I have a spare one sitting here and I am considering opening up the panel and swapping the photocells out. I am a software engineer, not a hands-on engineer but this seems simple enough from reading the boiler manual. What could go wrong when I try to fix this?
Turn the boiler off, unsure if the mains electricity needs to be off too?
Unscrew the top panel where the photocell wire leads to
Swap the two parts
Close it back up
Power it up and pray?
