replacing pull cord with wall switch

I have a pull cord light in my bathroom and I would like to replace it with a wall switch. I have a vague idea of how to do this, but I really don\\\'t want my vagueness to get me electrocuted ...Can anyone guide me?? Thanks...

not sure if it is the same in America as it is here (U.K) but you can not have a wall switch in a bathroom, that is why you have a pull cord, to comply with wiring codes

In fact you are allowed to have wall switches in the bathroom in the US, however there are strict guidelines on where they must be positioned. I'd get an electrician for this to make sure you're not violating your local electrical codes.

I'm not about to get into specifics because I'm not an electrician myself, but wall switches need to be a certain distance away from your sink and bathtub/shower, and within a certain distance from the door. It's best if someone experienced and knowledgeable about the code requirements does this.
