Hi,
Landscapers have built a new retaining wall, steps and raised beds.
Retaining wall is lined with DPM and weep holes at bottom. It’s going to have K Rend. I’ve got a few questions before they get started with this stage to ensure it lasts as long as possible. I will ask them too but I know they are behind on jobs, grafting in extreme heat and keen to speed through so I’m cautious.

Walls will be topped with tiles with overhang.
Live in South East so fairly dry but a lot of water in heavy clay ground.

1) Do the coping tiles need a throat?
2) Can the walls be rendered to ground or do they need to stop 150mm above? If so, how should that gap be covered?
3) should the raised beds have DPM/liner?
4) Do raised beds need weep holes? The weep holes from retaining wall go into these beds.
5) what should raised beds be filled with to ensure good drainage? Shingle or stone at bottom?
6) would steps last better if faces were timed rather than rendered?
7) with slot aco drain, what should go behind it? Close to wall (see pictures)

Is there anything else they should do to increase the longevity of the render and walls?

Thank you. Would love to hear from anyone whose had similar style that’s lasted well.
