Hello,

I am completely renovating my kitchen and have already reframed walls to allow insulation of my granite home. The floor is still a major source of cold though and before I fit new kitchen units I’d like to address this. I don’t have the height available to me for thick PIR + t&g/ply + laminate, due to door sweeps and an already low ceiling on entry to the kitchen.

Would 12mm PIR with ply then laminate over top be a stable surface? I would then install cabs straight over ply and then laminate only slightly under cabs then cover with kick boards?

Or is there some very high performance underlay for laminate that might save me all the trouble?

You might be able to utilise STS boards or something like that.

I have used these on a floor with LVT on top. They are around 10mm thick.
