Rheostat vs. Bridge Rectifier

I understand that it’s a rather weird question for pros, but I'm an absolute noob and I really hope that somebody here will be able to help me out with my conundrum. Thing is, I’ve been struggling with figuring out what’s the difference between a rheostat and bridge rectifier. I’ve checked a bunch of resources, such as this one https://www.derf.com/how-a-bridge-rectifier-works-step-by-step-tutorial/ but I’m still not able to get the hang of the difference. Anybody here can explain it so that even a simpleton like me can understand?

Rheostat is a variable resistor.
Bridge rectifier is four diodes used for full wave rectifying.
A rheostat used in a wheatstone bridge can look a little like a bridge rectifier diagram.
