Anyone know what this word means?

GHOTI

You may have seen it before, so I might be wasting my time.

If you haven't seen it before, think laterally..

You take the GH as in cough, so that makes a "f" sound
you take the O as in Women, so that makes a "I" sound
you take the TI as in Nation, so that makes a "SH" sound

so the whole word spells FISH.

Reminds me of the siamese National anthem as tought to me by my brother when I was kid. Try singing the following out loud to the tune of god save the queen.

Ah wah tarn ah Siam. :-)

Grief it must be time for my forty winks. I had to 'sing' it several times before the penny dropped. :?

How about this old chestnut?

Angry and hungry are two words that end in '-gry'. There are three words in the English language. What is the third word? Everyone knows what it means and everyone uses it every day. Look closely and I have already given you the third word. What is it?

What. :D

Have any of you seen that new musical, "Idiots say no"?

Like that old lin I learnt at school - "Polish it behind the door".
