Are ridge tiles supposed to be bedded on mortar along the sides or is just the vertical bit at the ends supposed to be grouted?
I do have some on mortar along the long sides, at one end of the house but I suspect that was to bring them up level with the rest.
Also, should so much mortar be used that it ties the ridge tile to the upper edge of adjacent flat apex tiles?
I cut some 5" lengths of gutter and trimmed 10mm off one side of each, they sit nicely (upside down) under the joints between ridge tile ends. They would keep the muck from dropping down between at ridge tile ends but I haven't grouted them yet.
I have dealt with ridge tiles with A LOT of mortar at the ends, that also tied in the top of the adjacent tiles and it wasn't fun. Just how much grout is supposed to go on? And what mix ratio?
Thank you,
