Okay, I'm lost on this one. The radio gives you a full range of volume settings, but the c.d doesn't. On the c.d 0 is silent and 1 is deafening (not a good idea when you don't like westlife !!!). Theres absolutely nothing in between or higher up the scale. Anyone any clues ?

Some modern steroes have a setting that makes the volume get louder and softer based on the vehicle's speed.

Whether it's this or not, it sounds like your stereo's had it. Luckily, Rover use normal DIN-sixed units so replacing it will be easy ! :D

Some stereos allow you to set relative volumes of the different modes. Perhaps you have "cd" set to maximum?

But I agree with brs: does sound like it could be knacked.

yep its nacked. put my old c.d. player in and all is fine. Told s.w.m.b.o. to only use decent music on it though
